KUCHING — St Joseph’s Private School, launched about a month ago, has received very encouraging response from the public. With Form 1 and Primary 1 classes almost fully subscribed, the Board of Management of the school has decided to open up registration for Primary 2 to commence in 2012. Parents who wish to register their children for Primary 2 (2012) may collect the registration forms from St Joseph’s Private School office, c/o Archbishop’s Office (Carmelite Church) at 118, Jalan Tun Abang Haji Openg, Kuching from Monday to Friday 8 am – 12 noon and 2.00 pm – 4.00 pm or telephone 014-6956575 for details.
St Joseph’s Private School accepts boys and girls of all religions and races. It is a single session school with lessons from 7.30 am to 3.30 pm, followed by extra-curricular activities. Development of soft skills such as the creative arts – music, drama and dance, and the nurturing of interpersonal skills and leadership qualities are all provided in the holistic education.
St Joseph’s Private School will follow the KBSR and KBSM national curriculum where Bahasa Malaysia is the medium of instruction. The school will utilise the Singapore syllabus for English. Apart from teaching Mathematicis and Science in Bahasa Malaysia, the school will explain the two subjects to the students in English.
Realising the importance of religion in the formation of a wholesome child, religious studies will be included in the curriculum.
The school will utilise St Joseph’s Parish Tuition Centre in 2012, before moving to its own new buildings in 2013.
